5 Steps To Fitness
There is no quick and easy way to
total mind and body health but it can be done with a
little work and dedication.
Resistance / Weight Training
Resistance / Weight training helps you develop more
definition in your muscles (don't worry ladies it does
not mean huge, bulky muscles). The more lean muscle mass
you have, the more efficient your body uses calorie
intake and the more calories you will burn during
exercise and at rest. One major benefit to lean muscle
mass increase is you can even burn more calories while
sleeping or watching TV. Resistance / Weight training
can be performed using not only free weights, but also
circuit machines, body weight exercises and stability
ball exercises. Not only will resistance / weight
training benefit your "shape" it also benefits
you by improving your mental and physical productivity,
bone density, as well as a reduction in daily stress,
osteoporosis and hypertension.
Cardio
What is Cardio? Cardio is any exercise that raises your
heart rate for an extended period of time. Walking,
Running, Elliptical Cross-Trainer, Treadmill, Stair
Stepper or even a Stationary Bike will help you increase
your heart rate, burn calories and help burn excess fat.
Consistent cardio helps you develop more endurance,
elevate your mood, increase heart function and even
boost your immune system.
Proper Diet / Food Intake A healthy diet is not
about eating less food but planning and eating smarter.
With proper understanding of what your body needs you
can still eat your favorite foods and still get
fit. It is important to understand what your body
needs and not listen to what the fad diets try to
literally shove down your throat. An example of poor
diet advice is that you need lots of carbohydrates
(carbs) to fuel your body for everything you do.
Carbohydrates and Fats are important but there are good
and bad fats and carbs, ask us if you are eating the
right kinds and amounts of each.
Vitamins / Minerals / Supplements
You must have the right vitamins, minerals and
supplements to make your body function properly. Not
maintaining optimal nutritional values can keep you from
reaching your fitness goals. Nutritional supplements can
help your body boost metabolism if you’re trying to
lose weight or shed excess body fat. If you are trying
to gain muscle mass there are many supplements that will
help your muscles grow big and strong. Balanced
nutrition may also lower fatigue if your goal is to
build endurance.
